Are the Wilmot Breakaway Ride and Warrior Walk + 5K on the same day this year?
Yes! Offering all three events on the same day creates an exciting atmosphere and gathers the Wilmot Warrior Weekend community in one place. This ensures that teams who have participants who are walking, running, or riding can celebrate all together.
Do I have to join a team to participate?
You do not have to join a team. You may register individually (either in-person or as a Virtual Participant) or support another participant or team by donating.
Are there fundraising minimums required to participate in the Wilmot Warrior Weekend?
Yes. There are required fundraising minimums to participate in the Wilmot Breakaway Ride. Please see our registration and fundraising minimums grid here for more information.
Where does my fundraising go?
Donations go to support cancer research and survivorship programs at the Wilmot Cancer Institute through the Warrior Weekend Team Science Award, Wilmot Discovery Fund, and the Judy Di Marzo Survivorship Program.
What is a Virtual Participant?
A Virtual Participant is someone who wants to join the Wilmot Warrior movement but is not able to participate in the event in-person. Virtual Participants are able to join teams, fundraise in support of cancer research and survivorship programs, and are eligible for all incentive awards. A $25 registration fee is required.
Will there be photography and videos?
Photography, audio, and video recording will occur during this event. By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release or publication to be used on the University of Rochester Medical Center and University of Rochester websites, social media, or for any other purpose by URMC. Photographs and/or videos may be used to promote similar events in the future. You release URMC against any claims related to the use of photography, audio and video materials related to this event.
How do I register and setup my participation center and fundraising pages?
We encourage you to personalize your participation page to help inspire your donors. You can personalize your page by adding a photo, sharing why you’re participating in Wilmot Warrior Weekend, and setting a goal for your participation or your team. What are the distances for the Wilmot Breakaway Ride?

What is the weekend schedule? When and where does my event start?
Packet pick-up and the Kickoff Celebration will be on Saturday, September 21. The Wilmot Breakaway Rides and the Wilmot Warrior Walk & 5K is on Sunday, September 22 at the Xerox campus in Webster. Full event details will be on the Schedule page as they are updated.
What is the Kickoff Celebration on Friday night and am I invited?
The Wilmot Warrior Weekend Kickoff Celebration will take place on Saturday, September 21st from 6pm-8pm. The evening begins after packet pick-up and includes dinner and drinks, live music and a short inspirational program. Participants who raise $250 or more are invited.
When is Packet Pick-up?
Saturday, September 21st, time and location TBD. If you are picking your packets up on the event day, please plan to arrive one hour prior to your event start.
Are both the Walk and the Ride family friendly?
Absolutely. Children of all ages can participate in the 5K and 1-mile walk. Children 8+ can ride in the 12.5-mile ride, 13+ in the 25-mile ride, and 16+ in the 50 and 75-mile rides. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their ride. Lower registration fees and fundraising minimums apply. See here for details.
How do I register my children?
For the Warrior Walk and Run you will be asked how many kids 12 and under you want to add to your registration, as there is no registration fee. For those 13+ you Have the option to “register a family member” after you’ve entered your own information. You can use this option for children participating in the Wilmot Breakaway or you can register them individually.

How do I make a check donation?
Checks can be made payable to “Wilmot Cancer Institute.” Please note in the memo it is for the Wilmot Warrior Weekend AND the participant and/or team the donation is for. Checks can be mailed to:

What is the difference between a fundraising commitment/minimum and fundraising goal?
All cyclists are required to raise a minimum of $250 or $400. You have until October 31 to reach this commitment. See the question below for more information. You can set your fundraising goal at whatever you’d like, at or above the minimum, and there is no obligation to meet that goal.
What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising commitment?
All registered participants will be eligible to participate in Wilmot Warrior Weekend even if they have not met their fundraising commitment by event weekend. Fundraising will be open until October 31st. If a participant has not met their fundraising commitment by the close of fundraising, the participant’s credit card will be charged the difference between their fundraising total and their commitment. Riders must hit their minimum by event weekend to receive their jersey and participate in the kickoff celebration.
Teams
What are Wilmot Warrior Weekend Teams?
A Wilmot Warrior team is a group of cyclists, runners, walkers, volunteers, and virtual participants who want to join together to participate and fundraise for cancer research and survivorship programs. Team members can fundraise individually, or they can fundraise as a team and then share donations after the event to cover each participant’s fundraising minimums.
How do I start or join a Wilmot Warrior Team?
When registering for the event, click “Start a Team”. Be ready to name your team when registering. If you are joining a team, click “Join a Team” and have the team name ready to search. If you are starting a team with the same name as a previous year, you will need to enter the team name and click the link to “bring this team back” in the error message that comes up. Only the previous team captain can bring back a team.
What is the Wilmot Warrior Partnership Challenge?
Any company or corporate team is designated as a partnership challenge team. Teams can be comprised of runners, walkers, cyclists, volunteers, and virtual participants.
Can teams share funds?
Yes. Teams that raise funds at the team level, can share funds after the event to help meet teammate’s fundraising commitments. The team captain must fill out a Funds Transfer form found in the Wilmot Warrior Toolkit after the event.
