Do I have to join a team to participate?
You do not have to join a team. You may register individually (either in-person or as a Virtual Participant) or support another participant or team by donating.
Are there fundraising minimums required to participate in the Wilmot Warrior Weekend?
Yes. There are required fundraising minimums to participate in the Wilmot Breakaway Ride. Please see our registration and fundraising minimums grid here for more information.
Where does my fundraising go? Where do my donations go?
100% of donations go to support cancer research and survivorship programs at the Wilmot Cancer Institute through the Wilmot Discovery Fund and the Judy Di Marzo Survivorship Program.
What is a Virtual Participant?
A Virtual Participant is someone who wants to join the Wilmot Warrior movement, but is not able to participate in the event in-person. Virtual Participants are able to join teams, fundraise in support of cancer research and survivorship programs, and are eligible for all incentive awards. A $25 registration fee is required.
Can I participate in both the Warrior Walk + Run and the Wilmot Breakaway Ride events?
Yes! Registration is $125 before July 24, $150 after July 24, and the fundraising minimum for the ride remains in effect.
Will there be photography?
Photography, audio, and video recording may occur during this event. By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release or publication to be used on URMC websites, social media, or for any other purpose by URMC. Photographs and/or videos may be used to promote similar events in the future. You release URMC against any claims related to the use of photography, audio and video materials related to this event.

What are the distances for the Wilmot Breakaway Ride?
The 2023 Wilmot Breakaway ride has 3 distances: 27, 55 and 75 miles. For maps and ride profiles, please see our course page on our website.
What are the distances for the Wilmot Warrior Walk + 5K?
There is 1-mile walk and a 5K run and walk.
What is the weekend schedule? When and where does my event start?
The Wilmot Breakaway Rides are on Saturday, September 30th starting at UR Medical Central Labs at 211 Bailey Road in West Henrietta. The 75 mile ride begins at 7am, the 55 mile ride begins at 8am, and the 27 mile ride begins at 9am. All rides are mass starts. Please plan to arrive in the start chute 15 minutes prior to your start. The Wilmot Warrior Walk is on Sunday, October 1 at Genesee Valley Park. Registration begins at 8, the 5K begins at 9:15, and the 1-mile walk begins at 11.
What is the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night and am I invited?
The Wilmot Warrior Weekend Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday, September 29th from 6pm-8pm at the Rochester Museum and Science Center on 657 East Ave in Rochester. The evening begins after packet pick-up and includes dinner and drinks, live music and a short inspirational program. All participants who raise $200 or more are invited. Guest tickets may be purchased for $50.
When is Packet Pick-up?
Friday, September 29th, 4pm—6pm (all events), Saturday, September 30th Wilmot Breakaway Ride only (5:30am—9am), Sunday, October 1 Wilmot Warrior Walk/Run (7am—9am). If picking your packets up on event days, please plan to arrive one hour prior to your event start.
Are both the Walk and the Ride family friendly?
Absolutely. Both event sites are family friendly. However, if you have children under 13, or if your child needs to be in a stroller, the Walk and Run are your best participation options.
How do I register my children?
Children must be 13+ to participate in the Wilmot Breakaway and must be accompanied by an adult. They must be registered individually. For the Warrior Walk and Run you will be asked how many kids 12 and under you want to add to your registration, as there is no registration fee. For those 13+ you will need to register them separately, as the registration fee applies, and a valid, unique email address.

What is the difference between a fundraising commitment/minimum and fundraising goal?
Depending on the route you choose and when you register, you are committing to raise at least the minimum associated with it; i.e. $200 for the 27 mile route. You have until October 31 to reach this commitment. See the question below for more information. You can set your fundraising goal at whatever you’d like at or above the minimum, and there is no obligation to meet that goal.
What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising commitment?
All registered participants will be eligible to participate in Wilmot Warrior Weekend even if they have not met their fundraising commitment by event weekend. Fundraising will be open until October 31st. If a participant has not met their fundraising commitment by the close of fundraising, the participant’s credit card will be charged the difference between their fundraising total and their commitment.
What are Wilmot Warrior Weekend Teams?
A Wilmot Warrior team is a group of cyclists, runners, walkers, volunteers and virtual participants who want to join together to participate and fundraise for cancer research and survivorship programs. Team members can fundraise individually, or they can fundraise as a team and then share donations after the event to cover each participant’s fundraising minimums.
How do I start or join a Wilmot Warrior Team?
When registering for the event, click “Start a Team”. Be ready to name your team when registering. If you are joining a team, click “Join a Team” and have the team name ready to search. If you are starting a team with the same name as a previous year, you will need to enter the team name and click the link to “bring this team back” in the error message that comes up. Only the previous team captain can bring back a team.
What is the Wilmot Warrior Corporate Challenge?
Any company or corporate team is designated as a corporate challenge team. Teams can be comprised of runners, walkers, cyclists, volunteers and virtual participants.
