Welcome! I am
I am Holm Bussler and I am proud to participate in the Wilmot Warrior Weekend on September 21st & 22nd, 2024 in Rochester, NY. Wilmot Warrior Weekend is a celebration and movement fueled to create new life-saving treatments and cures for cancer patients in New York and around the world.
Our team, "Allison's Anti-Cancer Army" , will pedal to fight cancer: all fundraising will advance world-class cancer research and survivorship programs at the Wilmot Cancer Institute and the University of Rochester.
The "WARRIOR WEEKEND TEAM SCIENCE AWARD" is funded by Warrior Weekend Success, and provides critically important seed funding for researchers to get their innovative ideas off the ground:
and it already bears fruit - this year, Wilmot leadership presented the first-ever award to Brian Altman, PhD, and Minsoo Kim, PhD, who are investigating whether a disruption in circadian rhythms or what is known as the “biological clock” or “sleep-wake cycle” makes cancer cells less receptive to immunotherapy.
That's what YOUR DONATIONS achieved.
Please consider supporting us by donating to my fundraiser - and I won't let you down: my glutes hurt, my performance gets better, by September 22nd I'll be in top form and the 50-mile route will be no match for my ambition to rake in donations.
Let's get rolling - and thank you!
IMPORTANT UPDATE 9/20/2024: Friends, I did it! Last weekend I was on the last swing to Brighton, back from a glorious 70-mile ride hitting Brockport - Hamlin, Charlotte when a nasty root on the Genesee River Trail hit me unprepared. I was pedaling away one moment and found myself sliding across the asphalt the next, grappling to understand what was happening. I was badly damaged fruit but hopeful it would all mend in time. Today, nearly a week later, I still can't use my right leg - climbing and especially descending stairs is hilariously difficult. I tried to ride my bike and it's a no-go.
So no, I won't be able to ride the 50-mile, or even the 75-mile course.
I'll make it up to you all in 2025, promised!
