Andy and I are proud to be participating in the Wilmot Warrior Weekend on September 21 – 22, 2024, in Rochester, NY.  Warrior Weekend was started in 2023 to raise money for cancer research and survivorship programs for the Wilmot Cancer Institute. Patients, family, friends, University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and University of Rochester faculty and staff, and sponsors came together to raise more than $353,000! 

The Wilmot Cancer Center will now forever be near and dear to us and our family! To show our support and gratitude to the Cancer Center and the medical staff on WCC6 and WCC7 we have joined in on the fundraising efforts and started team “The AML Eradicators” 

Andy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in February 2023. Thanks to our family, Dr. O’Dwyer, and the medical staff at Wilmot, Andy was able to start his chemotherapy treatments right away. Andy spent the next next six months in Rochester where he received the highest level of care. Because of Dr. O’Dwyer, her medical team and the nurses at WCCC, we can happily say that Andy is approaching his 1 year anniversary of being cancer free! 

Wilmot Warrior Weekend is more than just a first-class cycling, walk, and running event – it’s a celebration and movement fueled to create new life saving treatments and cures for cancer patients in New York and around the world.
