Patels to the Medal
Raising funds for Golisano has become a beloved yearly tradition for our family. We started team Patels to the Medal as a way to show our appreciation for the care Madeleine and Hannah received while in the NICU. When they were born at 28 weeks (after I was on bedrest at Strong for 5 weeks), we didn't know what their journey would look like. Throughout their 80 day hospital stay, the doctors and nurses supported us, educated us, and took the absolute best care of our girls.
Flash-forward to today and we're no longer only Strolling for the NICU. We stroll because of the care we've received from cardiology to close both girls' PDAs. We stroll because of the care the Child Life Specialists have provided again and again, to make procedures a little less scary and hospital stays a little more fun. We stroll because our oncology team came in and helped to hold us together, when a trip to the ED for abdominal pain became a much more significant diagnosis than any of us expected. We stroll to support the units that have taken such good care of us - the NICU, surgery, the PICU, and 7N. We stroll to continue to do our small part to help Golisano Children's Hospital to provide care that continues to exceed our expectations!

While nothing we say or do will ever be able to fully express our gratitude to Strong and Golisano Children's Hospital, we hope that participating in events like the Stroll for Strong Kids will help Golisano be able to continue their legacy of providing amazing care to children and their families.
