Thank you for your time, interest, and possible support of cancer research at the Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester NY. This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart, as you will learn about below.
My cancer journey began in February 2020, when I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. A CT scan revealed a large tumor in my right, ascending colon. Why did this happen to me? I was a "fit" 48 year old, that worked out regularly, with healthy eating habits. The diagnosis was a total shock, and terrifying. There were lymph nodes involved, but thankfully no spread to other organs. A re-section surgery was performed to remove the diseased portion of my colon. This was a good first step, but chemotherapy was advised to hopefully eradicate any remaining cancer cells. The chemotherapy lasted for many months, 9 treatments total. This was a difficult time for sure, and I am so grateful for the incredible care provided by the medical team at the Wilmot Cancer center. There have been several CT and PET scans since, and so far my future looks bright. This brings us to the Summer of 2023. I am now known as a cancer survivor, as I look forward to 4 years out from diagnosis.
A special thank you to the following people, as I could not have done it without your support (you know who you are):
