Why I am a Wilmot Warrior
It's been 11 years since my initial diagnosis of Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Cancer. It was a shock, that led to a 14 hour surgery just a few months after my father passed. I was lucky, my cancer was diagnosed early and through the work of the staff at Wilmot, my surgery successfully cured my cancer
For 7 years.
Then four years ago, it returned, in lymph nodes in my chest. For four years, I have been getting monthly injections, and regular scans, and I am happy to say that it has not spread yet.
I'm lucky, but each month when I go to the Infusion center, I see patients with a much harder path. This year, for the first timeI hope to run the 5K (with others). I ran it in 2021 when it was still a virtual event, and I am back on the road this summer training. I've never run a 5 K with others.
I run to support the Wilmot Cancer Center. I run to support those that are on a harder path than me. I run so that research will continue to advance so that when/if my cancer spreads, a new treatment will keep me alive.
Each day means so much to me. This day, I will run for others and for myself. Please support me in this effort if you can.
There is so much work that needs to be done, so more cancer patients can have the kind of outcomes I have enjoyed so for.
So donate if you can, or come join the Doyle Family Team and walk or run with us.
All fundraising will advance world class cancer research and survivorship programs at the Wilmot Cancer Institute and the University of Rochester. Please consider supporting my efforts by donating to my fundraiser and let’s leave cancer in the dust. Won't you help me celebrate my tenth rebirth day with a small gift to my effort.
