Cole was born 9 weeks early due to IUGR. He spent 41 days in the NICU receiving services to help him grow and thrive. Not only was Cole provided specialized support, but so was our family through the the hospital and child life services that helped not only Aaron and I as parents, but his older sister Paige as well. Doctors, nurses and support staff became like family during our stay while we watched Cole become the super fighter he is today. These individuals not only nurtured our son providing him the strength to overcome obstacles and be the spunky, inquisitive, funny, loving, almost 7 year old he is today, but they cared about, and for our family. They spent time with Paige making her feel better and helping her understand what was going on. They provided not only emotional support, but specialized equipment for us to use including the car bed that allowed us to take Cole home, books to read to him while in the hospital, quick access to food and snacks that allotted us with more time to spend with Cole, while also focusing on the importance of self care during this difficult time, and a countless list of other items that made our stay more comfortable and put us more at ease. It was a long journey with therapies, additional surgery, and lots of appointments, but the Children's hospital has made the journey as easy and comfortable as it can be. Please consider donating to this amazing cause to help lighten the load of those going through such a difficult time!
