Can't run or walk but still want to participate?:
We would love your help in making the event successful and memorable. Please email URWell5k@gmail.com if you’d like to volunteer.
Genesee Valley Park has a carry-in/carry-out trash policy. Please help us by minimizing the waste and trash you bring the day of the race.
We are committed to providing health care free of charge to our patients. Now in it's 11th year, the annual 5K is the clinic's sole fundraiser, and the funds raised will enable us to continue providing quality, comprehensive wellness care to our patients.
As of 2012, about 30% of those in Rochester lived below the poverty level and 29% of adults were discontinuously insured. UR Well attempts to fill a gap in this healthcare landscape by providing primary care, education, and linkage to insurance coverage for those who are eligible. We also serve as a bridge to the formal healthcare system, providing access to free specialty care and ushering our patients into long term medical care through St. Joe's Neighborhood Center.
The 5K route will start and finish in Genesee River Valley Park, close to the roundhouse shelter. The route follows the Genesee river along the University of Rochester Undergraduate river campus, crosses the pedestrian bridge near the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and returns along the Genesee Riverway trail, past the Staybridge Suites Hotel, back to the Genesee River Valley Park
All funds raised during the URWell 5k will contribute to:
» Acute Care (flu shots, point of care testing)
» Quality Primary Care for Longitudinal Patients
» Meals through UR Well Fed
» Smoking Cessation Counseling
» School and Work Physicals
» Specialty Care (select nights):
» Musculoskeletal Disorders
1. What is the race schedule?
Registration and bib pick-up will be at 7:00am. The 5K will take place rain or shine at 9:00 am.
2. Do I have to run? Can't I just walk the 5K?
You can walk, skip, or run the 5K. This 5K should be enjoyable and is a way to help you meet your own fitness goals. We are delighted by any and everyone who takes steps towards getting healthier and supporting a great cause.
3. I have never run a race. Will I be able to finish a 5K?
Many of our participants are first-time runners. This event is meant to be low-pressure and stress-free with the common goal of coming together as a community to support UR Well.
4. Is parking available?
Please note that parking is limited at the Roundhouse Shelter. We highly encourage you to run, bike, or carpool. Please allow sufficient time for parking and registration.
