Welcome to my page!
I am proud to join the fight against cancer again this year. Each year, thousands are diagnosed with cancer. I have supported each of the 8 years of the Warrior Walk by volunteering on the Walk Planning Committee. I get a first-hand view of the hours of careful planning for the event and I am so proud of all the progress Wilmot has pioneered locally in cancer survivorship programs and research funded by this amazing event! (The contagious smiles and hope I see each year is just the "icing on the cake!") The work remains - even in the midst of this pandemic. So we are going Virtual this year. You can join in from anywhere with free registration and a desire to participate and walk - or run - or bike!
Since joining in the planning committee, I have seen first-hand how many people in our community are affected by cancer - whether themselves or a loved one - and heard so many stories of survivorship that it keeps enhancing my determination to help support Wilmot Cancer Institute's unique survivorship program and the constant research that makes so much difference! I learned personally 20 years ago how important that research is when a routine screening mammogram found my cancer and I began my journey. I am determined to help others benefit from the same kind of treatment and research, no matter what kind of cancer they face! Sadly, in these years, I have also seen some tragic losses of patients, both family and friends, for whom the answers did not come soon enough.
I invite you to join with my team, Bettie's Buddies, as a walk participant and/or donor. Proceeds support the Judy DiMarzo Cancer Survivorship Program and cancer research efforts at Wilmot Cancer Institute. Please show your support by joining me for the Virtual Wilmot Warrior Walk or giving a donation today!
