Each year, thousands of people are diagnosed with cancer. It’s time to bring the community together to make a difference for those cancer impacts.

Statistically speaking, every single one of us will be touched by cancer at some point in our lives. Most likely, we experience it several times even if we aren't personally diagnosed as well. Many in my life have fought cancer, myself included. Some have concluded that battle. I created a team to honor two of those people: Christine Bohannon and Chris Barnes. Both were Webster teachers and are missed by so many. Christine passed away in June of 2017 and Chris in August of 2018. If you would like to walk in their honor, please sign up and join us on Sept 8 at 10:45! You will need to be at the shuttle lot by 10 am to meet us in time. Parking is free. If you are unable to walk and would like to donate, please do! If you can do both, even better! Share this link and help the team get as many donations as possible! Thank you so much!
The other reason I created this team is to honor those who are still fighting or the others who have passed away.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1,633,390 new cases of cancer were reported and 595,919 people died in the U.S. (this includes D.C. and Puerto Rico) in 2015. This is the most current data available.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S., exceeded only by heart disease.
One of every four deaths in the U.S. is due to cancer.
The overall five-year relative survival percentage for patients with invasive cancers is 65.6%. It estimates the percentage of patients who will not have died from their cancer five years after diagnosis. To give some perspective, the five-year relative survival percentage of patients with pancreatic cancer is 8.5%. UNACCEPTABLE.

Show your support by joining me at the Wilmot Warrior Walk or giving a donation today! My goal is to raise a ton of money for research so we no longer have to accept cancer as a normal and frequent part of our lives. I am excited about some of the recent innovations happening right now, like using the polio virus to help patients with glioblastoma or bladder cancer. Researchers are making huge strides and they need our help!! I set a goal of $5,000, but I would honestly like to see it much higher! Please help. Christine and Chris were too young! No more!
