September 2, 2020 – Update

We’re not sure how it happened, but we had the perfect weather for an amazing evening last night Tuesday, September 1st.

We were thrilled to have it all come together so well. We had a great turnout with friends and family.
Thank You to all who were able to join us at Highland Park.

Thank You to everyone who sent wonderful messages and everyone who donated.

And We know there are additional donations that are being sent.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

It truly felt Wonderful. Our Hearts are Full!

Our Bayer and Lill Families are so grateful for every donation we have received to our STEEL Lillies Team to support the Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Thank You ALL …. For Everything!

Always With Love,
The Bayer and Lill Families

August 31, 2020 - Update

Our Family WILL ALWAYS Remember Tiff!

As we continue to raise funds for Wilmot Cancer Institute,
we are asking Family and Friends to Remember
Our Sassy and Always Smiling Tiffany Bayer Lill.

Tomorrow, September 1st, is the date we are walking (in person or virtually ) to raise funds to support the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
We are forever grateful for all that Wilmot has done and continues to do for those we love.

Our STEEL Lillies 2 Team will be walking (socially distant and with masks) at Highland Park.

We will begin to meet in Highland Park at Max Lill Drive, near the Viet Nam Memorial just about 5:00 pm.
We have mapped out either ½ mile or ¼ mile near the Viet Nam Memorial.
We will begin Our Walk at 6:00 pm

This really is a casual walk and it looks like the weather will be perfect.

Always With Love,
The Bayer and Lill Families

Just a Thought…….If you are able to join us, you might want to bring a chair to sit before the walk.

August 25, 2020 - Update

This Wilmot Warrior Walk is a time not only to remember those who we have lost to Cancer, but to Remember and Celebrate all of our Family and Friends who have and will survive Cancer
We have been thinking about and talking about all the Cancer Survivors we know.

Our STEEL Lillies 2 Team will be walking next Tuesday, September 1st at Highland Park.
The actual location will be at Max Lill Drive, right near the Viet Nam Memorial.
We plan is to begin to meet at 5 pm and then a very casual walk at 6 pm.
We are working on having 3 separate walks (we are working on it!!).
They will be (about) 1/4-mile, 1/2 mile and 1 mile long.
All within Highland Park.

We really would love to have you join us.
One Real important piece of information is, we are extremely conscious that everyone will need to be observing the need to be Socially Distant and that EVERYONE will be WEARING MASKS.

Whether you are virtually walking or joining us next Tuesday, we appreciate your support.

If you want to donate online or would prefer to make a donation next Tuesday…. Any amount will be appreciated.

We so look forward to seeing any of you who will be joining us.

August 21, 2020 Update

8 Years Ago, Tiffany left us. She had 2 Beautiful Young Children when she died. Payton was 12 and James, 9. They will be 21 and 18 on their Birthdays this October.

Tiff has missed so many huge milestones in their lives. All of us celebrate those special events. But it's absolutely not the same without her. She would be SO PROUD!

We will be walking in this 8th Annual Wilmot Warrior Walk to raise money so that MORE Research will result in Amazing Results. We want Moms and Dads and Aunts and Uncles and everyone else to not miss any of their family milestones.

The STEEL Lillies 2 is working on details of dates to walk. You certainly can virtually walk wherever. But we figure that there might be some of you that would like to join the Bayers and Lills.

We'll figure this out within the next few days and let you know date, time, and location. And we're also thinking it might be more than ONE Walk ;)

Thank You to those who have already made a donation.

We SO appreciate your love and support.

STEEL Lillies 2

It seems like yesterday and then almost forever when our Dad died 36 years ago from colon cancer.
Since then, we have lost my Mom, my niece Tiffany, my Mom’s only sister-Aunt Helen, and so many others to this disease.
But we also have many relatives and many close friends who are amazing cancer survivors and I thank God for the medical professionals and research that has made this possible.

The Wilmot Warrior Walk is now in its 8th year of raising funds for Cancer Research and Survivorship Support
And like many other organizations, this year, as a result of Covid-19, our Wilmot Warrior Walk will be a virtual walk on September 12th and 13th.

For many of these past 8 years, my sisters…. Janet Bayer-Kukla, Judy Kinsky and Alana DeCarlo … have worked the Wilmot Warrior Walk Registration tent, incredibly early on each of those Sunday mornings.
It’s going to feel very strange, quite different this year, to not be able to greet the enthusiastic Survivors as well as many Family and Friends who participate in the Walk. They have been so proud to be there to celebrate or to honor the life of someone no longer with them.

So, because of them and all our surviving family and friends, this year, we’ll have our own Virtual Team. We’re calling it STEEL Lillies 2, in honor of my niece, Tiffany Bayer Lill.
We already have a STEEL Lillies Foundation in place and have raised funds over the past few years for Sarcoma Research and Awareness (over $250,000!)
So, this year, we will raise money for additional cancer research in her honor!

Love You and Miss You Tiff!

Without a doubt, 2020 has been a very unusual and unsettling year in a lot of ways. Cancer did not stop because of COVID-19. The UR Medical Center lost significant revenue and profits due to the impact of the virus. Fundraising for cancer research and development is needed more than ever.

This is not the first time I am setting up a team for Wilmot, but I find it challenging to find the right words.
So. the information on this page may change over the next several weeks.
I’ll update you on any additional information, anything we think would encourage you to either be part of our ‘virtual team’ or donate to our team.

“Cancer doesn’t quit, even in the face of a global pandemic", says Jonathan W. Friedberg, M.D., M.M.Sc., director of Wilmot Cancer Institute. "Thousands of people in our region continue to be impacted by cancer every day, and we are as determined as ever to find better ways to treat cancer."

By supporting the 2020 Wilmot Warrior Walk, we are helping to make new treatments possible.
We are ensuring more survivors have a positive quality of life during and after treatment.
We are helping cancer patients have more time with their family and friends.
Together, we can find better ways to support everyone impacted by cancer.

We thank you in advance for your support.
