Virtual Warrior Walk information

Helpful hints and instructions for completing a VIRTUAL Warrior Walk:

We know gathering friends and family at Highland Park Bowl is a great experience and we will miss that. However, there are some positives to moving the Wilmot Warrior Walk to a virtual event—the best being that you can complete the Wilmot Warrior Walk in a unique location that is convenient and special to you. We hope you will take this opportunity to come together with your team (via video chat, social media, or in-person depending on social distancing limits) to support the Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Whether in your neighborhood, backyard, or a park: do what works best for you and your team. Have fun and show your spirit:

  • Create team t-shirts and signs
  • Make and post lawn signs
  • Chalk your driveway
  • Color your windows or door
  • Tie a ribbon around a post or tree in front of your house
  • Send special messages of hope to families and thanks to the frontline healthcare providers working to support our patients

How do I participate in the Warrior Walk?

You can register as an individual or create a team. Although you don’t have to raise a set amount of money, we will give out incentive prizes for the top fundraisers. We realize this may be a difficult time to ask your friends and family for donations. Remember that every dollar raised stays right here in our community to support research and care at Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Be creative:

Once you register, get creative with your Wilmot Warrior Walk participation! We have seen so many amazing ideas from teams at our in-person event in the past. Being sure to follow social distancing recommendations in place in September, you could have your team members do their own small gatherings. If social distancing is lifted, we hope you will use this time to enjoy the opportunity to reconnect while supporting a great cause.

To make our virtual Wilmot Warrior Walk even more fun, we have created contests:

  • Most creative team shirts
  • Most creative signage—download our template or make your own!
  • Team Spirit Award
  • Best pet photo
  • Participant from farthest distance—you don't need to be in Rochester to walk or run, so let's see where your team members are from!
  • Top fundraising team and individual

We are excited to see the creative ideas you and your team come up with to have fun while supporting the Wilmot Cancer Institute!

Share your race story with Wilmot Cancer Institute’s social media pages using the hashtag #WilmotWarrior so that you can cheer on and inspire others!
