You can never fully be grateful for the the outstanding things in your neighborhood until you come across a time in your life when you need them. Almost a 2 years ago, our journey at Strong and the Golisano children’s hospital began. Our start to our journey was with Dr. Peckman and Dr. Seligman who not only put up with me for 9 days (which was an accomplishment in itself) but saved our child’s life when they pulled Cole out at 2lbs 60z at 31 weeks. Their names will forever be ones that Cole knows and cherishes. After Cole was born, our 41 day stay in the NICU at the Golisano children’s hospital was the hardest and most remarkable time. The facility, doctors, especially Dr. Amin, nurses, and family care staff were amazing and taught and gave Cole the strength to grow and thrive even though his body wasn’t ready. Without this hospital, our little boy wouldn’t have been able to fight. The end of the journey took us to a couple day stay in the PICU after Cole’s surgery where his surgeon, Dr.Gitzelmann magically was able to calm a frantic mom reassuring her that everything would be okay when operating on a 4lb infant. Our wish for all parents is that they never have to experience what it is like with their child in the hospital, but for the special percentage who get the privilege to watch how strong their children can be, we can not be a more luckier a community to have the amazing Golisano Children’s hospital. The Fields family is forever grateful
The 24th annual Stroll for Strong Kids Walk and 5K Run will be held at Genesee Valley Park on Saturday May 30th where Golisano Children’s Hospital supporters will enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere full of activities.
