Carter & Jax's Angels
Carter and Jax's Angels
Dear Family and Friends,
We are so blessed and excited to bring back Team Carter and Jax’s Angels for the 9th time for the Stroll for Strong Kids 2020. This is a huge year for us because Carter turns 10 years old on May 7th so we want this year to be huge!!!
This cause represents so much more than just your basic fundraiser. It symbolizes hope for everyone in life who have faced tough times and challenges that seemed impossible to overcome but simply found a way. Our family is living proof that Miracles, Medicine, Prayers, Faith and Love when combined with support together can combat even the most difficult odds and issues.
Most of you know the story about Carter and the battle for survival which began when he was born on May 7, 2010 the day he turned 25 weeks. Rachael had a full blown abruption and needed an emergency c-sectioon because her life was at risk. Carter came into this world weighing a mere 1 point 13.5 ounces which dipped even lower to 1 pound 6 oz. His eyes were fused shut and he had a 4% chance of living and extremely high odds of having other health complications. He fought to grow and we all bonded for 104 days with the wonderful team at the Strong NICU where together we celebrated every ounce, pound, and every move until he was stable enough to come home. That day finally came and he has thrived in life and suffers no health complications! He beat all of the odds and then some!!!
Because of Rachael's birth complications with Carter she had to have our other boys 3 weeks early so she did not go into labor by c-section. Jax James was born July 8th, 2016 at 10:55 am weighing 5 pounds 14 ounces at Strong. He was a scheduled c-section and we were ecstatic to be able to share his wonderful birth with our family in the waiting room and friends through facebook live!
All was great until after the announcement and waiting with Rachael in the recovery when Jax's health started to decline. His lungs were under developed and unable to power his body which lead to his oxygen levels dropping drastically and earned him an urgent trip to the NICU. For 10 days Jax got to follow in Carter's footsteps from 6 years prior. Jax has been diagnosed with pulmonary stenosis but he is doing great and we are hopeful he will not need any surgeries in the future.
We as parents are so lucky and blessed! If it was not for the 4 C-Sections (she was suppose to have no more then 3) and the advice from every doctor and nurse we would keep on adding to our blessed family.
Without having Carter and the life experiences we had to fight for our family our lives may have looked very different. These challenges were tough and tragic, but we feel blessed and thankful that are boys are walking miracles and through this we came out of the NICU as better parents, a better family and a much different perspective on whats important in life. This story is truly what life is about and is the reason why our priceless doctors, nurses and medical staff come to work each and every day. The Strong NICU is world-class and unfortunately many stories do not have the same results that we have been blessed with.
Carter is now approaching 10 years old and has been joined by three wonderful brothers Bryce (7 1/2 years old), Billy (5 1/2 Years Old) and our latest NICU member Jax (3 ½ Years Old). Our thankfulness and gratitude for all the people involved with the NICU only gets stronger as our fairytale family of 6 continues to evolve and prosper.
***In the past we have always designed a Carter and Jax's Angles t-shirt. This year in the spirt of raising as much awarness and money as possible we are coming up with a t-shirt that symbolilzes hope and miracles! Our goal is to sell the t-shirts to as many people as we can so we can touch and share this amazing cause with everybody and raise additional money for our team! We know most of you have t-shirts from our past walks so you can wear any of those from throughout the years or you can purchase a Cause t-shirt that we are soon creating. We want to stand out a little more this year as well since we are celebrating 10 years!!!! We will come up with some fun ideas and if you have any thoughts we would love to hear about them too!!!
So please share this with all of your friends and family and help us surpass our goal for the NICU and support our boys Carter and Jax!!!! Your kids will also have a blast there!!! There are bounce houses, games, food, ice cream, and more and it is all free! Please consider donating to our team!!!
