The time has come for us to ask you again for your support of the amazing hospital that continues to care for our sweet miracle Mason.
In December 2006 we went for our routine ultrasound. We were excited to find out if we were going to have a boy or a girl. Instead we were told that our Mason would have to fight to make it to birth. And even if we were blessed enough to deliver him, he would still have a 50% chance of survival. He was diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a defect that occurs in 1 in every 2,500 babies. Mason was born and the fight began. He was placed on ECMO (heart lung bypass) days after birth and remained on it for 14 days until he had his first of many surgeries. After 56 days of many ups and downs including some very scary moments, we were able to go home. However, our journey was far from over. Since birth Mason has had 15 surgeries. He is currently being treated for scoliosis and will require a spinal fusion surgery in the next few months. This hospital continues to care for our boy and we do not know where we would be without them. Please help us give back to the amazing place that continues to care for our sweet miracle Mason.
The 24th annual Stroll for Strong Kids Walk and 5K Run will be virtual this year. Sad to not be with all of our friends and family on such a wonderful day. Also very glad that this allows for so many others who do not live near to join us.
