The 'Warrior Denise Lazore' team is created to honor the courage and tenacity of my twin and her courageous battle against several forms of cancer. In her early twenties she was diagnosed with cervical cancer related to DES. Years later she bravely fought and survived breast cancer. Four years ago she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and underwent a stem cell transplant later that year. She has battled back against this wicked disease only to be diagnosed in 2015 with lung cancer. Needless to say, cancer has met it's match messing with this fiesty redhead! She amazes not only her friends, family, and fellow survivors, but also her medical staff.
Denise also cares for her husband Mike who is fighting his own cancer related to his exposure to Agent Orange during the Viet Nam war. We are honored that she has been chosen a Wilmot Warrior and are grateful for the suberb medical care provided to her at Wilmot.
Wilmot Cancer Institute will host the 4th annual Wilmot Warrior Walk Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Highland Park in Rochester. The event includes a 5K, 10K and 1-mile walk as well as fun activities during the post-race celebration. Proceeds support the Judy DiMarzo Cancer Survivorship Program and cancer research efforts at Wilmot Cancer Institute.
