In August of 2016, Jordyn was your typical active, healthy, beautiful young wife and mommy. She had a smile that could light up a room and loved nothing more than her growing family. Jordyn worked on her family farm and spent the rest of her time loving on her family. She was expecting baby Augello #2, due January 16, 2017 and life was good.
Things changed on October 24, 2016 when Jordyn was admitted to Strong Memorial Hospital with what was initially thought to be some serious pregnancy side-effects.
Just 2 days later, on October 26, 2016, her 3rd wedding anniversary; Jordyn was diagnosed with Stage IV Stomach Cancer at 27 weeks pregnant. The doctors knew the cancer was advanced and since the baby seemed to be developing well given Jordyn's condition, the plan was to have her carry the baby for a few more weeks and then start treatment.
2 days later, on October 28, 2016 Jordyn's health took a sharp turn for the worst and baby Frances Mary Augello was delivered at 27 1/2 weeks. With baby Frances in the expert hands of everyone at Golisano Children's Hospital, Jordyn was brave and faced her cancer head on traveling from Rochester to Boston and back again in search of a cure.
After just 10 weeks, Jordyn's condition was rapidly deteriorating. On January 5, 2017 Jordyn was moved to Hospice Care at Strong Memorial Hospital. Our family will forever remember the loving and tender care she received in her final few days by the nurses in this unit. Surrounded by her loving family she died Monday morning January 9, 2017.
Exactly one week later, Jordyn and Chooch's daughter, a perfectly healthy baby girl, Frances Mary was discharged from Golisano Children's Hospital on her due date, January 16, 2017.
We are forever grateful for the truly loving and world class care that Frances received during her 12 weeks in the NICU.
Update April 2019:
Our family again experienced the tremendous care given by Golisano Children's Hospital this spring when Frances Mary had a brief Viral Respiratory Infection and needed around the clock care. She is doing just fine now and this has again inspired us to continue to give back.
The money donated to Golisano Children's Hospital ultimately provides the smallest little people with the best care, just like our little family miracle Frances Mary received.
